Day 2 Multicultural Education

I feel multicultural education is important and should be taught to students.  Realizing and respecting others and their way of life in forms of language, values, food and actions is a stepping stone for students to realize that not everyone is the same.  Understanding and accepting that everyone is similar but also different in many ways will help them make sense of why people are the way they are and thats okay.

  1. Sinora D, Multicultural Education is very definitely important and should be taught and to bring awareness and it is the stepping stone for every student that they are just as important as everyone else.

  2. Yes, it definitely is important. The students in our classrooms come from many walks of life and are 'here' not by choice but because of their parents. They too are facing, dealing with 'cultural shock' for those newly introduced to being on Guam, others having been on the island for years (their very young years), even their continued movements from year to year to different school. Having to be recognized and to comfortably share of themselves can being calm and hopefully to continue progressing positively.

  3. There’s no doubt that multicultural education is essential. Continue to embrace it and empower your students. Don’t forget to add an image to your postings. Si Yu’os Ma’ase’!

  4. Yes, we need to embrace diversity in the classroom with multicultural education. All students regardless of race, color, or culture they are from, they are all precious. All of them have different backgrounds and personalities, but we learn from each other and this is how we become strong as we accept, respect and love one another.
