6/1-6/8 Resources

Thank you for sharing this week's resources, Dr. Rivera! It's always great to find new resources, especially ones that are free. I especially liked the worksheets and posters provided on the Busy Teacher blog. I am constantly looking for quick-checks that I can use in class, and these worksheets look like great examples. The posters are also good quality, and also free, which are fantastic. I was previously an IRA member before I moved, and this week's resources reminded me that I need to rejoin the ILA soon. It was also really cool to read some of your poems! I enjoyed the poem about Typhoon Sinlaku, and I think students would appreciate reading poems that they can relate to.

  1. Si Yu'os Ma'ase', Ciann, for your thoughtful reflections. I’m glad you found the Busy Teacher resources useful, especially the worksheets and posters. Having access to high-quality, free materials can make a real difference in supporting classroom instruction. I also appreciate your comments about the poems. One of the goals of culturally relevant literature is to help students see their own experiences reflected in what they read, so I’m pleased that the poem about Typhoon Sinlaku resonated with you. Thank you for sharing your insights, and I hope you’ll reconnect with the ILA soon. it remains a valuable professional resource.

  2. I agree with you Ciann. As teachers I know we look for resources we can use in our classroom, especially "FREE" one :) Another resource I love to use, is sharing with colleagues. In my school, teachers constantly share resources and technology that they use in their classroom. If it is new to me, I always ask my fellow teachers and they are more than willing to help me. :)

  3. I agree, free is fantastic! I also agree that many students would enjoy reading/listening to Dr. Rivera's poems in class. Sometimes the readings we give them fly right past them, but if they were to hear or read something they could relate to, it could really spark some ideas!
