Day 2 Reflection: Multicultural Importance and Educational Technology

Educational Technology makes teaching and learning more meaningful and engaging to the new generation. Students are able to collaborate and learn from each other with the guidance and support of the teacher and their parents. Students can be creative in learning from technology. As long as there are open or internet access available for students to use, the learning can be constant. Students are able to develop confidence as they learn new apps and apply them to strengthen their skills. In the "Advantages of Technology" video, using technology can prepare students for the future. From keyboarding skills to navigating into different tools of the computer, students can easily understand and learn various activities or lessons that interest them. However, I still believe that students can gain more knowledge and information through the help of an adult. Students still need to learn the connection of real-life experiences and application of skills that they can learn from educational technology.

  1. Well said, Anag! When I had observed you teaching your kinder students online, I saw that they were all very much engaged and "entertained" with the lesson on brushing their teeth. Loved it! Great job!

  2. Love the "Sunshines" in your class! I appreciate the opportunity of being a colleague at LBJES/TAMES for the two years I was there, though we weren't in the same vertical team. Before then, I've been knowing of you by means of Dr. Rivera and Mae with all the adventures you share. Now being in the same class, I'm thankful that it's another means of getting to you you.
Yes, the young children (even older kids) need guidance from adults. With parents in the home front, I can understand the challenges (not as learned with technology, working schedules, home/child care, etc can be overwhelming and beyond their "teacher" expertise. The children do enjoy the interaction, seeing their classmates, surfing the web, posting "chat" messages. Exposing them to meaningful use of what's available to them will only better their navigational skills.

  3. Wonderful reflection! Certainly, educational technology motivates students in the learning process. It is also important to provide hands-on/interactive strategies to make learning meaningful. Kudos, and continue to empower your students!
